After all, democracy is for the people, of the people and by the people. Parliamentary democracy could not be regarded as direct democracy, but the regime of the people's representatives. The rule of People’s representatives has already transformed INDIA into a breeding ground of corruption, nepotism, favoritism etc.
We the people of India have been witnessing that the vested interests of political parties (rulers) have always been taken care of. In such hopeless political context, nothing wrong in framing the Lokpal Bill with the upper hand of the civil society. We have already fed up with the wrong doings of the Indian rulers and political leaderships. The rulers and political, leaderships must understand that their wrongdoings and non-accountability to the people only compelled the civil society to explore the possibility in taking part in Law-Making process.
Of course, let it be an impetus to the DIRECT DEMOCRACY that guarantees Referendum (by which the people directly express their opinion on governmental policy or decision), Initiative (through which people can take preliminary steps to suggest a legislation which they think necessary) and Plebiscite (through which people express their opinion on specific political issues).
The discourse on Recall (by which the people call back a representative before the completion of his term when he/ she goes against the interests of the public), another tool of direct democracy, has also to be ignited in the current political scenario.
Good one, LOL, If I can get 10000000 people to support me, and is ready to create strikes, well I too may be able to force the Indian Parliament to make laws to my liking, Of course I should be made the member of the committee too
